In addition, COL Thacker was recognized by the National Security Council's Assessment Board for the most accurate predictive analytics that were measured from 2016-2020. COL Thacker's military service includes 14 combat deployments.

His first assignment was as a Platoon Leader, 1/5 Infantry, 1/25 Infantry Division Fort Lewis, Washington. "Titan" Thacker was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 01-95 at Fort Benning, Georgia on 25 January 1995.
